So the more I use Flash the more I love and hate it. There are so many little things about it that are annoying. You just have to work around them and that makes it even more annoying. So far I haven’t found a way to import vector graphics without having a million problems. I hate having to re-create stuff in Flash. Especially drop shadows for example. There are some hacks to do them. One of them I’ve seen is here. The way I’ve been handling them lately since that method would probably be pretty slow when you’ve got a lot of buttons on interface is to create a drop shadow in Photoshop with a transparent background. Then I import them as PNG’s to retain their transparency. It works out all right most of the time. There is also no way to do per-pixel effects so you can’t do blend modes.

But you can also create some pretty spiffy looking things with it and I plan to post some of the cooler things I’ve been working on lately and according to this article at least just those two problems will be taken care of.
